She described it as nothing more than a hypocritical, political ploy.
In her latest Substack newsletter “The Good in Us,” Mary Trump criticized her family’s relationship with religion as purely transactional:
“From my grandfather onwards, the only thing that held any importance, the only thing they believed in, was money. God was never a factor, and I never witnessed any genuine expressions of faith in God.”
Mary Trump accused Donald Trump and his associates of using religion to justify their actions, no matter how sinister, labeling it as “cynical,” “hypocritical,” and “an appalling exploitation of the sincere faith of millions of Americans.”
She pointed out the “significant issue” she has when “someone as devoid of faith as Donald Trump pretends to embrace the beliefs his supporters want him to hold for political gain.”
“The issue isn’t that Donald lacks belief in God; it’s that he’s a hypocrite and a manipulator. He only believes in one higher power, and in his mind, that’s himself,” she added.
