A mass shooting devastated an unlicensed bar in South Africa over the weekend, resulting in the tragic deaths of 12 individuals, including three young children. The incident occurred as multiple gunmen unleashed gunfire without warning.
The horrific attack took place early Saturday inside a bar operating within a hostel west of Pretoria. Authorities reported that 10 victims lost their lives on the scene, while two more succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Among the victims were a 3-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old girl, tragically caught in the crossfire of bullets during what should have been a regular evening for locals. An additional 13 individuals were rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds, with authorities refraining from disclosing their ages or conditions.
Law enforcement is currently on the lookout for three male suspects believed to have barged into the bar and unleashed gunfire indiscriminately. A police spokesperson informed national broadcaster SABC, “We have received information that three unidentified gunmen entered this hostel where a group of individuals were socializing and began firing randomly.”
The motive behind the appalling attack remains shrouded in mystery, leaving both authorities and the community grappling for answers.
