Math Puzzle: Measure the Star

The regular dodecagon and the blue star inside it both have a side length of 1 unit. What is the area of the star?

To solve this puzzle, we need to understand the composition of the regular dodecagon with a side length of 1 unit. The dodecagon is made up of a dark blue star and 12 light blue equilateral triangles, each with a side length of 1 unit. The star itself has the same area as six dark blue squares that are also part of the dodecagon.

Therefore, the area of the star is equal to the combined area of the six squares, which is 6 units.

This puzzle challenges our spatial reasoning and geometric understanding. By breaking down the dodecagon into its individual components, we can calculate the area of the star accurately.
