Sky’s upcoming series “The Death of Bunny Munro” has just released its first look, giving fans a glimpse of Matt Smith in a whole new light. The six-part series is based on Nick Cave’s cult novel and promises to be a wild ride.
In the image released from the show, Matt Smith, who plays the titular character Bunny Munro, is seen in nothing but his underwear as he prepares to light up in a laundromat. Joining him is newcomer Rafael Mathé, who plays Bunny Munro’s son, Bunny Junior.
The series is described as a “wild cautionary tale” and a “tender portrait of a father and son.” After Bunny’s wife, Libby, dies by suicide, Bunny finds himself struggling to cope with grief while trying to navigate his role as a father. As Bunny embarks on a road trip across Southern England with his young son, Bunny Junior, their journey becomes increasingly out of control.
The cast of “The Death of Bunny Munro” also includes Sarah Greene, Johann Myers, Robert Glenister, Alice Feetham, David Threlfall, Lindsay Duncan, and Elizabeth Berrington. The show is set to premiere in 2025 and was written by BAFTA winner Pete Jackson and directed by Isabella Eklöf.
Executive producers include Matt Smith, Nick Cave, Pete Jackson, and Isabella Eklöf, with Clerkenwell Films producing in association with Sky Studios. The series promises to be a gripping and emotional story that explores themes of grief, fatherhood, and masculinity.
