The highly anticipated Apple TV+ comedy series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, titled “Brothers,” has hit a bump in the road as production has been paused due to creative changes behind the scenes. The show, which had completed filming eight out of its 10 episodes in Texas, saw the departure of writer, showrunner, and executive producer David West Read over creative differences. In his place, Lee Eisenberg is in talks to take over as showrunner for the remaining episodes and reshoots.

Eisenberg, known for his work on Apple’s “Little America” anthology series, as well as projects like “Lessons in Chemistry” and “WeCrashed,” brings a wealth of experience to the table. With credits on hit shows like Amazon’s “Jury Duty” and “The Office,” Eisenberg is poised to bring a fresh perspective to “Brothers” as it navigates this transition.

Originally announced in 2023, “Brothers” is loosely inspired by the real-life friendship between McConaughey and Harrelson. The series follows the two actors as their friendship is put to the test when their families come together to live on Matthew’s ranch in Texas.

In addition to McConaughey and Harrelson, the cast includes talented actors like Holland Taylor, Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, and more. The show is produced by Skydance Television, with executive producers including David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell. Jason Winer will direct multiple episodes and serve as an executive producer as well.

While the pause in production may come as a disappointment to fans eagerly awaiting the series, the changes behind the scenes are a testament to the commitment to delivering a high-quality show. Stay tuned for updates on when production will resume and when “Brothers” will make its debut on Apple TV+.
