Mediawan Kids & Family, the youth content arm of the European powerhouse that owns Plan B, See-Saw Films, and Chapter 2, has announced a partnership with Claynosaurz Inc., the company behind the popular NFT brand. Together, they will collaborate on an animated series based on the digital-native franchise.
The upcoming series, consisting of 39 episodes, each running for seven minutes, highlights Mediawan Kids & Family’s strategy of working with emerging talent from the creator economy to develop original transmedia projects. Geared towards children aged 6 to 12, the comedic series will follow the escapades of four dinosaur friends on a mysterious island. Jesse Cleverly, the award-winning co-founder and creative director of Wildseed Studios, a Bristol-based banner owned by Mediawan, will serve as the showrunner.
Claynosaurz, founded in 2021 by Nicholas Cabana, Dan Cabral, and Daniel Jervis, has already amassed a significant following with over 450 million views and 200 million impressions on digital platforms. The brand has also garnered an online community of over 530,000 subscribers and has received accolades such as the Collision Award and a Webby Award.
Julien Borde, President of Mediawan Kids & Family, expressed that the series represents a groundbreaking move in the industry by expanding a digital collectible brand into a TV series. Borde emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering talents worldwide and diversifying its content lineup through innovative projects like Claynosaurz.
Nicholas Cabana, co-creator of Claynosaurz, highlighted the collaborative and community-driven approach taken by the brand, which resonated with Mediawan’s vision for the series. The show aims to appeal to a broader audience while retaining the quirky and humorous essence of the original IP.
The series will be launched on YouTube and made available for licensing on traditional TV channels and platforms. The production of the show will involve collaboration between Claynosaurz’s creative teams and Mediawan’s production crew.
Method Animation and Katell France, both Mediawan labels, are involved in producing the series alongside Claynosaurz. The partnership between the companies signifies a new direction in content creation and distribution, showcasing the potential for innovative storytelling in the digital age.
Mediawan’s presence at the Cannes Film Festival with the animated feature “Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol,” directed by Sylvain Chomet, further underscores the company’s commitment to producing high-quality and diverse content for audiences worldwide.
