Meghan Markle may be returning to her acting roots, as her collaboration with Netflix appears to be faltering. RadarOnline.com reports that Eric Roberts, who worked with the Duchess on the legal drama Suits, believes she still has much to offer in the entertainment industry, where her true talent lies.
Roberts, the brother of actress Julia Roberts, confidently predicts that Meghan’s return will astonish audiences. He stated: “She will come back. It is time. And Meghan needs to come back to work. I feel like her whole family will support it, and she is amazing,” his wife Eliza, a casting director and friend of Meghan’s, added.
Eric, 69, portrayed the character Charles Forstman, a wealthy and unscrupulous businessman on Suits. During the filming of the USA Network show, he developed a close rapport with Meghan, 44. Eliza Roberts suggests that Meghan left Suits due to the Royal Family’s concerns over her portrayal of the “very sexy” paralegal, Rachel Zane.
Eliza explained to The Daily Mail: “It is tricky because of the monarchy. Her role in Suits was very sexy. Her making love with another man, that was just – they’ve never seen anything like that. She worked so hard to get there. That was just too much,” Eliza said. “Women don’t give up their jobs for a marriage anymore. I understand the intention, and she thought she’d be satisfied with doing good works in the world. But she needs to be acting. She is a young woman who needs to be acting.”
Eliza added: “Meghan is a star. From the second you see her, she just has star quality. It doesn’t matter. It was always going to happen.”
Eric firmly believes in Meghan’s potential for a triumphant return to acting. “I think she should come back. I think she will come back,” he said. “And I think she’s going to be fantastic and blow everybody’s mind.”
With her Netflix prospects uncertain, Meghan is likely seeking new sources of income. RadarOnline.com recently disclosed that Netflix executive Ted Sarandos has had enough of working with Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, 41, due to a series of unsuccessful projects and challenging working relationships.
According to Variety, Netflix executives are frustrated with repeated narratives about the couple’s departure from royal life and their unprofessional demeanor in meetings, which has caused tension.
Their company, Archewell Productions, faces criticism for inadequate communication. Meghan and Harry have ongoing Netflix projects yet to be realized, and combined with Variety’s revelations, it seems unlikely that their current first-look deal will be renewed. Eric, who has acted in over 800 films, including The Dark Knight and The Expendables, describes Meghan as completely different from Variety’s portrayal, calling her a “really cool person, really easy, laid back, kind, smart.” He and Eliza, 73, were acquainted with her before she met Harry.
“She’s a good mom. She is a caring, loving, kind mom. That’s all you need to know about somebody,” said Eliza. “And same with him.”
