Meghan Markle is celebrating International Day of the Girl by shining a spotlight on her beloved daughter, 4-year-old Princess Lilibet.
“To all the girls — this world belongs to you,” Meghan, 44, expressed through Instagram on Saturday, October 11. “Protect your rights, raise your voices, and support one another. We promise to do the same for you. It’s your right and our duty.”
She further encouraged, “Go get ’em girl! 🏃♀️ Happy International Day of the Girl.”
Along with her heartfelt message, Meghan shared a selection of rare photos featuring their daughter with husband Prince Harry. (The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also have a 6-year-old son, Prince Archie.)
In the photos, Meghan, clad in a white shirt and matching pants, held Lili’s hand near a peaceful creek, while Lili donned a charming blush-colored outfit complete with a purse. The toddler also sported her red hair, styled in a tousled ponytail resembling her father Harry’s locks.
A second post featured Meghan capturing Lili as she joyfully ran in their backyard.
Meghan shared her moments in an Instagram Story captioned simply, “Happy International Day of the Girl.”
After experiencing a miscarriage, Meghan welcomed Lili in June 2021. She has spoken openly about her loss, stating, “When I discuss my vulnerability during a miscarriage and the associated shame, it shows that it’s okay to be human and to talk about it,” in the December 2022 Netflix docuseries featuring her and Harry. “We can either choose to remain silent or highlight how the negatives can lead to positive outcomes, like helping others. That’s life—building bonds and community.”
Since Lili’s arrival, Meghan has been open about the joys she experiences as a mother of a daughter.
“Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago, you came into our lives, and each day feels brighter and better because of you,” she celebrated in June on Instagram. “Thank you to everyone sending love and commemorating her special day!”
In another post, Meghan reminisced about how she danced to the viral “Baby Mama Dance” to help stimulate labor.
“Four years ago, that too happened. Both of our children were overdue by a week,” Meghan shared alongside hospital video. “So when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t do the trick — I resorted to one final option! 😂.
The former Suits actress later stood by her decision to share the video, emphasizing her commitment to authenticity in her life.
“Being authentic is crucial,” Meghan mentioned on Emma Grede’s “Aspire” podcast in June. “It’s also a reminder that beyond all the external chaos, there’s a genuine and enjoyable life behind the scenes. I’m grateful for social media, as it allows me to share those moments on my own terms.”
Meghan returned to Instagram in January, years after closing her accounts following her marriage to Harry.
