Melinda French Gates Reflects on Painful Memories Amid Allegations Against Ex-Husband Bill Gates
As new details of Bill Gates’ alleged involvement with Jeffrey Epstein have surfaced, Melinda French Gates has expressed how these revelations dredge up “very painful times” from their 27-year marriage. In a recent interview on NPR’s “Wild Card” podcast, the philanthropist shared her relief at being away from the past turmoil.
French Gates mentioned that the recent release of Epstein files containing explosive allegations against her ex-husband has brought back memories of difficult moments in her marriage. Despite the challenges, she emphasized that she has moved on and purposefully distanced herself from the past.
The documents included claims by Epstein suggesting that Gates sought medication for sexually transmitted diseases and allegedly intended to administer them to his then-wife without her knowledge. Gates’ spokesperson has vehemently denied these allegations, labeling them as “completely false.”
While French Gates acknowledged the sadness surrounding the allegations, she emphasized that it is up to those involved to address the claims. She expressed her relief at being removed from the situation and expressed sympathy for Epstein’s accusers.
Following their divorce in 2021, French Gates stepped down from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She cited Gates’ association with Epstein as a significant factor in their split, revealing that it deeply troubled her.
Despite Gates’ insistence that his interactions with Epstein were solely related to philanthropy, the recent allegations have raised questions about the nature of their relationship. Gates’ spokesperson dismissed the claims as baseless and suggested that Epstein was attempting to tarnish Gates’ reputation.
