Meta Pauses International Sales of Ray-Ban Display Glasses Due to High Demand
Meta has announced that it is putting a halt to its plans to sell its Ray-Ban Display glasses outside the U.S. due to overwhelming demand and limited supply. The company had initially intended to launch the smart glasses in France, Italy, Canada, and the U.K. in early 2026, but the unprecedented interest has led to extended product waitlists well into the year.
According to Meta, the surge in demand has forced them to reconsider their international expansion strategy. As a result, they have made the decision to focus on fulfilling orders in the U.S. while they reassess their approach to global availability.
The Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses, unveiled in September, come with a unique control system in the form of the Meta Neural Band. This wristband is capable of detecting subtle hand gestures, allowing users to interact with the glasses in a seamless and intuitive manner.
During the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Meta showcased new features that will be added to the glasses and the Neural Band. One of the highlights is a teleprompter feature that enables users to deliver prepared speeches or presentations on the go. Additionally, users can now write messages using their finger on any surface while wearing the Meta Neural Band, with the gestures being transcribed into digital text.
Furthermore, Meta is expanding the pedestrian navigation feature of the glasses to include cities like Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, and Salt Lake City, providing users with enhanced navigation capabilities in urban environments.
