Michelle Obama Launches New Podcast with Brother Craig
In a spirited venture into the audio landscape, Michelle Obama has unveiled a new podcast alongside her brother, Craig Robinson. This initiative, dubbed the “IMO” podcast, is a product of Higher Ground, the media company established by the Obamas.
“My brother Craig and I launched the IMO podcast to create a space for people to come as they are, ask honest questions, give their opinions, and have thoughtful conversations about life,” Michelle Obama stated earlier this week, perhaps in a bid to establish a new social forum in the crowded podcasting universe.
However, the promotional efforts for the podcast have raised a few eyebrows, particularly with an awkward video featuring the duo. In the clip, Michelle enthusiastically greets viewers: “Hey TikTok! It’s Michelle Obama and I’m here with my big brother, Craig!” A somewhat ominous Craig lurks in the background, adding a layer of unease to the cheerful announcement.
“Hey everybody!” Craig Robinson chimed in, perhaps trying to lighten the mood. “We’re excited to announce the launch of our new podcast called ‘IMO’ with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson!”
“And we just posted the trailer if you want to check it out!” he added, as if the trailer could redeem the slightly cringeworthy promotional attempt.

Yet, the initial response to their first episode has been lukewarm at best. After a mere 15 hours on YouTube, the episode managed to attract only 13,000 views—a figure that might be more fitting for a niche blog than a high-profile podcast.
In a rather personal moment during the debut episode, Michelle Obama shared one of her notable pet peeves regarding her husband, Barack Obama. She humorously recounted how he often delayed their departures by making unexpected trips to the bathroom just as it was time to leave. A revelation that raises the question: who really opens up like that in public?
While the podcast aims to foster open conversation, one can’t help but wonder if this format will resonate with audiences or if it will become just another footnote in the vast sea of digital content.
