In a recent appearance on a liberal podcast, former First Lady Michelle Obama expressed her concerns over the deportation of undocumented immigrants, stating that the issue keeps her awake at night. This sentiment may be strikingly ironic to those who recall that during her husband’s presidency, he was often labeled the ‘deporter in chief’ due to the high number of deportations that occurred under his administration.

It seems plausible that Ms. Obama’s remarks are a strategic alignment with the Democratic Party’s current narrative, which is keen on advocating for the rights of individuals residing in the country without legal status. This situation exemplifies the kind of virtue signaling that has become a hallmark of leftist discourse.

Breitbart News reports:

Michelle Obama Expresses Concern Over Trump’s Deportation Policy: ‘It Keeps Me Up at Night’

During an episode of the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, Michelle Obama voiced her apprehensions regarding President Donald Trump’s deportation policies. In a conversation with her brother, Craig Robinson, they reminisced about their own experiences with racial issues and were prompted to reflect on recent challenges that have tested their fears.

“In this current climate, for me it’s, you know, what’s happening to immigrants,” she remarked, indicating that her celebrity status has shielded her from personal fear, yet her heart goes out to those without such privileges.

“I drive around in a four-car motorcade with a police escort. I’m Michelle Obama. I do still worry about my daughters in the world even though they are somewhat recognizable,” she stated. “So, my fears are for what I know is happening out there in streets all over the city.” She criticized the Trump administration for making decisions without due process, implying that these choices are based on superficial judgments rather than legal and factual considerations.
