An elderly Michigan veteran is fighting for his life after a horrifying attack by a DoorDash driver in Wixom. Lloyd Poole, 75, was left in a coma and had part of his skull removed after confronting the delivery driver for speeding through the neighborhood on December 28.
According to reports from WXYZ, Poole approached the driver, identified as Ryan Turner, at the end of his driveway and asked him to slow down. In response, Turner allegedly got out of his vehicle and punched Poole in the head, causing him to fall to the ground. Poole’s daughter, Jen Shaw, recounted the incident, stating that her father never regained consciousness after the brutal assault.
Poole was rushed to the hospital with a black eye and underwent emergency surgery to address brain swelling, which required part of his skull to be removed. Despite the medical intervention, Poole has not shown any signs of improvement and remains unresponsive.
Turner later turned himself in to the Wixom Police Department, admitting to the assault and driving away from the scene. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, posting a $35,000 bond on January 1. Court records revealed that Turner had previous run-ins with the law, including assault and battery charges in 2022.
In response to the shocking incident, DoorDash condemned Turner’s actions, stating that they have permanently removed him from their platform. The company is cooperating with law enforcement to ensure that justice is served. However, Poole’s family expressed concerns about Turner potentially working for other delivery services and called for stricter bond conditions to keep him away from their home.
As Poole fights for his life in the hospital, his family members are taking turns by his side, hoping for his recovery. The uncertainty of his condition has left them anxious and fearful for his future. Despite the challenges ahead, they remain hopeful and determined to support Poole in his battle for survival.
