Construction Milestone Reached for $71 Million Argo Cable Car Project in Idaho Springs
Exciting progress was made on Thursday for the Mighty Argo Cable Car gondola in Idaho Springs, with the installation of 10 support towers using a Blackhawk helicopter.
Once completed, the gondola will span 1.2 miles from the Argo Mill to an observation point 1,300 feet above Idaho Springs. It will feature 22 10-person cabins with glass-bottomed floors and five specialized mountain bike cabins capable of carrying eight bikes each.
In addition to the gondola, the project will also involve the construction of 28 miles of mountain biking trails in collaboration with the Colorado Mountain Bike Association.
The upper terminal at Miner’s Point will offer visitors a panoramic view, along with food and beverage options, observation decks, and even a wedding venue. Project founder and co-investor Mary Jane Loevlie expressed her excitement about the progress, stating that the gondola and upper terminal are expected to open next spring, if not sooner.
“I couldn’t be more excited,” Loevlie said. “I’m going to cry.”
