Scotty Dynamo, known to family and friends as Nicolas James Wilson, has taken legal action against a renowned Las Vegas restaurant, claiming negligence in the hours leading up to the untimely passing of his husband, actor Mike Heslin, who died at the young age of 30.
Dynamo’s legal complaint, filed on September 18 against Aria Resort and Casino, which oversees Javier’s Las Vegas, accuses the establishment of failing to administer CPR to Heslin in a timely manner following his medical emergency. This complaint includes five separate allegations, namely wrongful death, loss of consortium, negligence, gross negligence, and negligent hiring, training, and supervision.
Heslin’s tragic death was confirmed by Dynamo through an emotional Instagram post on July 5, recounting the events leading to his husband’s passing on July 2 due to an unexpected cardiac event after a week-long hospitalization. He noted, “Michael was young, in perfect health, and the doctors have no explanation for what happened.”
According to the lawsuit, the couple had been dining at Javier’s with friends when Heslin suddenly collapsed.
The lawsuit further alleges, “It was immediately apparent that Michael was suffering from a medical emergency. His friends urgently called for help, moving furniture to enable him to lie on the floor—an obvious sign that should have triggered immediate action from staff.”
According to court documents, despite multiple restaurant employees noticing Heslin’s distress, they allegedly failed to act, neglecting to provide lifesaving assistance during those crucial minutes. One account states that when a bystander began administering CPR, a restaurant employee forcibly intervened, disrupting this critical measure.
Dynamo has accused the defendants of failing to maintain adequate emergency response equipment and neglecting to execute standard emergency protocols, including calling trained professionals or deploying an available automated external defibrillator (AED).
Dynamo is seeking $15,000 in damages. Meanwhile, a representative for MGM Resorts International has responded, asserting, “These claims do not align with the facts, and we will address these issues through the legal process.”
Heslin, known for his roles in Paramount+’s Lioness, Lifetime’s The Holiday Proposal Plan, and Prime Video’s The Influencers, among others, was celebrated for his talent and spirit. In remembrance, Dynamo reflected, “Michael was brilliant, selfless, talented, and a real-life guardian angel. He helped me through numerous battles with cancer and was always the person others turned to for good news or support. His kindness and love were felt by all who knew him.”
