Controversy Surrounds MyPillow’s $14.88 Promotion

MyPillow founder, Mike Lindell, is facing criticism after his company advertised pillows for $14.88, a price that has ties to white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups. The promotion, which promised the “ultimate comfort upgrade,” was shared on social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).

The number “1488” has been identified as a common symbol used by hate groups. The “14” represents the “14 Words,” a white supremacist slogan, while “88” is a reference to “Heil Hitler” since H is the eighth letter of the alphabet.

Despite the backlash, MyPillow has not responded to requests for comment, and Lindell could not be reached for a statement. Lindell, a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump, has been known for promoting conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election being stolen. In 2021, he offered a $5 million reward for anyone who could disprove his election fraud claims, leading to a legal battle that resulted in him having to pay $5 million to a computer forensics expert.

The controversy surrounding the $14.88 promotion has sparked outrage online, with many condemning Lindell for using a figure associated with hate groups to market his products.
