In a disturbing turn of events early Saturday, 57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter allegedly orchestrated a politically charged attack against Minnesota Democrats, resulting in a tragic loss of life and further unrest.
Authorities initiated a sweeping manhunt after Boelter, donned in a police uniform, fatally shot former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her spouse, as well as injuring State Senator John Hoffman and his wife inside their residences.
During the ensuing investigation, law enforcement purportedly uncovered a hit list within Boelter’s vehicle, which he had disguised as a police SUV. This list reportedly comprised around 70 names, including Governor Tim Walz, Senator Tina Smith, abortion providers, and notable Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
As reported by CNN:
-
Sources within law enforcement have revealed that a significant arsenal of weapons was discovered in the suspect’s car, indicating he was likely prepared for additional violent confrontations.
-
Additionally, a substantial quantity of ammunition was found alongside a Father’s Day card, seemingly intended for the suspect.
-
Authorities also retrieved a manifesto that detailed the suspect’s motives and grievances.
-
Among the findings was a hit list of approximately 70 individuals, which included:
-
Numerous state legislators from Minnesota
-
Mayors from various municipalities
-
Medical clinics, including both abortion providers and pro-life advocates
-
Individuals and locations from outside the state
-
-
The overarching motive appears to involve executing multiple attacks or targeted assassinations until thwarted by law enforcement.
-
Preemptively, police located the suspect’s next intended target, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
-
The suspect subsequently fled on foot, leaving behind his vehicle, cache of weapons, and part of his plan.
-
Reports indicate he was wearing a tactical vest or body armor, though it remains uncertain if he sustained any injuries during the confrontation.
