Misty Copeland’s son is following in her footsteps by taking ballet classes at the young age of 3. The talented ballerina, now 42, shared with Us Weekly that Jackson is excelling in his dance classes and is also exploring music. Copeland emphasized the importance of exposing children to the arts, stating that every child should have the opportunity to experience some form of artistic expression.

Jackson, born in the spring of 2022 to Misty Copeland and her husband Olu Evans, has shown a strong personality and independence since turning 3. Copeland mentioned that her son reminds her of her husband and that they share similar traits, making her feel like she has a little version of her husband at home.

Becoming a mother has brought significant changes to Copeland’s life, especially in terms of prioritizing family and finding a new rhythm. The renowned dancer, who has been performing professionally for over two decades, now focuses on balancing her career with motherhood. Copeland expressed that motherhood has softened her and made her more grounded, allowing her to give back to both her son and her fans.

In addition to her son, Misty Copeland also gives back to her young fans through her children’s books. Having already published “Firebird” in 2014 and “Bunheads” in 2020, Copeland is now releasing a new book titled “Letters to Misty.” This book, framed around ballet techniques and the five positions, offers advice and guidance to young readers based on the fan letters Copeland has received over the years.

“Letters to Misty” focuses on building confidence and navigating identity, using ballet as a foundation for personal growth and empowerment. Copeland believes that the skills she has learned through ballet, such as confidence and comfort in her body, can benefit anyone, not just dancers. The book is set to be released on May 6 and will be available online and in bookstores nationwide.
