Officials reported that Carrie Elizabeth Romney, the sister-in-law of former presidential candidate and ex-Utah Senator Mitt Romney, was found deceased on a street in Valencia, California, on Friday night.

The 64-year-old was discovered near a shopping mall parking structure around 8:30 p.m., as detailed by a report from TMZ.

An investigation into her death is currently underway, and the specific cause and manner have not yet been finalized, as per information from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Los Angeles County Deputy Brenda Serna communicated to The Post that it is “unknown at the moment” whether Carrie “jumped or fell” from the multi-level parking garage or a nearby establishment.

There has been no immediate response to requests for comments from the medical examiner’s office or Mitt Romney.

In 2012, the Republican senator ran a presidential campaign against former President Barack Obama, contributing to a highly competitive race that he ultimately did not win.

Romney also sought the Republican nomination in 2008 but was ultimately defeated by the late Arizona Senator John McCain.

While serving in the Senate, Romney made headlines as the sole Republican to vote for the conviction of President Trump during his first impeachment trial in 2020.

He reiterated his stance by casting the same vote in Trump’s second impeachment trial the following year.

From the beginning, Romney was critical of Trump, penning a sharp op-ed in 2019 in which he pledged to oppose the president’s “destructive statements” endorsed by the White House.
