MOGO Esports has announced the departure of BGMI player Pawan “Shogun” Kumar from their roster ahead of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2024. The team made their entry into the game’s esports scene in May 2024 by acquiring the former Gods Reign’s squad. This roster had previously played for Gladiators Esports in 2023, where they clinched two titles, including the BGMS Season 2 and BGIS championships.
Shogun’s time with MOGO Esports comes to an end after a one-year stint with the organization. Speculation about his departure had been circulating during the recent BGMS Season 3, and it has now been confirmed.
During the BGMS Season 3, MOGO Esports finished in 11th place in the Grand Finals. Surprisingly, Shogun decided to part ways with the team just three days after the conclusion of the tournament. The organization is now on the lookout for a new player to fill the void in their roster for the upcoming BMPS 2024 event.
Despite their recent struggles, with a 14th place finish in the BGIS 2024, MOGO Esports remains determined to bounce back and aim for their first title in the upcoming competition.
Shogun began his esports journey in 2021 and joined Gladiators Esports following the re-release of Battlegrounds Mobile India in May 2023. His time with the organization was marked by success, with victories in the Nodwin BGMI Champions Cup, India Today League Invitational, BGMI Masters Series Season 2, and the BGIS 2023.
After finishing as runners-up in the BMPS 2023, the squad was acquired by Gods Reign in January 2024. However, their performance under the new banner did not live up to their previous successes.
In May 2024, Shogun and his teammates made the move to MOGO Esports but continued to struggle to replicate their earlier achievements. Shogun will now be seeking a fresh start with a new team as he prepares for the BMPS 2024, set to kick off on August 20, 2024, featuring 128 BGMI teams. Krafton has already unveiled the tournament’s format and schedule.
As MOGO Esports regroups and looks to strengthen their lineup for the upcoming challenges, Shogun’s departure marks the end of an era for both the player and the organization. It remains to be seen how both parties will fare in their respective paths moving forward in the competitive BGMI scene.
