Fans of Tracker who are still processing the news of several cast departures, particularly from Justin Hartley‘s show, will be pleased to see a familiar face from the past in Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
In the latest season of Ryan Murphy‘s anthology, which debuted on Friday, October 3, Ed Gein (Charlie Hunnam) finds love with Adeline Watkins (Suzanna Son), much to the dismay of his mother, Enid Watkins (Robin Weigert). In a later episode, Enid reflects on her struggles during pregnancy, mentioning how she attempted to induce a miscarriage due to her disdain for having Adeline.
CBS viewers might recall Weigert for portraying Teddi. The show Tracker, which premiered in February 2024 with record-breaking ratings, has captivated audiences weekly as Colter (Hartley) traverses the nation to uncover various missing persons cases.
As the character Colter continues to evolve, the supporting cast has also expanded, introducing characters like Teddi (Weigert), Velma (Abby McEnany), hacker Bobby (Eric Graise), and attorney Reenie (Fiona Rene).
After her introduction in season 1, Weigert’s character was written off in the season 2 premiere, with her character Velma revealing the need for space in their relationship. Velma subsequently partnered with Reenie, and Teddi was left without further mention in that season.
“[Teddi] is going to be around for a while. She is supporting her mom and I was interfering, which wasn’t beneficial,” Velma stated in the season 2 premiere. “So I decided to step back. Don’t worry, I’m keeping myself occupied.”
Viewer concerns about the core characters thereafter escalated when Graise was missing in six episodes. His character’s cousin, Randy (Chris Lee), was introduced to assist Colter before Bobby’s eventual return, eliciting disappointment from fans who had grown accustomed to Graise’s presence.
Prior to season 3, it was revealed that both Graise and McEnany wouldn’t be returning — at least for the time being.
Reid emphasized that they aimed to prevent Tracker from becoming stagnant. “The only guideline I maintain for the series is that Colter will encounter a new setting each week with a fresh case to solve. The methods through which he finds solutions and the resources he draws from the team can vary,” Reid teased. “This season, we want to introduce more interaction with unique local characters. Observing Justin interact with an engaging guest cast will be a highlight.”
Monster is currently available for streaming on Netflix. The latest season of Tracker returns to CBS on Sunday, October 19, at 8 p.m. ET, with episodes available for streaming on Paramount+ the following day.
