Larimer County authorities have eased mandatory evacuations in the Pearl fire area, located west of Red Feather Lakes. Despite strong winds in the region, the 128-acre wildfire, which ignited on Monday, did not expand on Tuesday or Wednesday. Fire officials confirmed that containment remained at 5% by early Wednesday evening.

During a briefing on Wednesday afternoon, Incident Commander Trainee Ty Gripp expressed optimism, stating, “It’s been a challenging day. The crews have worked tirelessly, but the situation is currently looking favorable.”

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office has lifted mandatory evacuation orders for residents residing south of County Road 86 to Colorado 14, shifting the area to a voluntary evacuation warning status.

The current boundaries for the mandatory evacuation zone include Black Mountain to the north, the intersection of North County Road 73C and Forest Road 187A to the east, and Deadman Road to the south and west.

Although one outbuilding where the fire originated sustained minor damage, no additional structural losses have been reported, according to Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen during the Wednesday briefing.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the human-caused fire, with Feyen refraining from disclosing further details regarding its origin.
