Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski Meet with President Trump in Hopes of Detente
“Morning Joe” co-anchors Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, known for their vocal opposition to Trump policy, revealed on Monday morning that they met with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago last Friday. This marked the first in-person meeting in seven years between the duo and the President.
During the meeting, Scarborough and Brzezinski discussed various issues where they disagreed with Trump, such as abortion and concerns about retribution against political enemies and the media. Despite their differences, they agreed to restart communications, signaling a potential shift in their relationship with the President.
The meeting comes as a surprise to many, considering the strained history between the hosts and Trump. In 2018, Trump made derogatory remarks about Brzezinski’s appearance, leading to a public feud between them. However, the recent meeting suggests a willingness to move past their previous conflicts.
Scarborough and Brzezinski admitted that they had not spoken directly to Trump since March 2020, except for a call Scarborough made to him after the recent attempt on Trump’s life in Butler, Pa. Despite their differences, Trump appeared cheerful and interested in finding common ground with Democrats on divisive issues.
While the duo remains opposed to many of Trump’s actions, they acknowledged the need for a different approach in light of his re-election. Brzezinski emphasized that it is time to seek common ground and work towards a more constructive relationship with the President.
