In a peculiar incident in Mosgiel, a man was caught red-handed while rummaging through a construction site’s skip in the late hours of the night. The 42-year-old individual was seen looting material from three dwellings under construction on Doon St by a vigilant resident at 11:30 pm yesterday. Upon loading his car with the stolen goods, the man was intercepted by the police.
During questioning, the man claimed that he believed he had the right to take the items since they were discarded in the site’s skip. However, law enforcement officers promptly instructed him to return the pilfered goods to the skip. Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond of Dunedin mentioned that discussions with the foreman would determine whether the man would face charges for his actions.
Following the incident, the man was issued a trespass notice, barring him from entering the property again. The bizarre turn of events serves as a reminder to respect private property boundaries and refrain from unauthorized activities.
