Motorola Edge 60 Pro Review: Hands-On

The mid-range smartphone market is a competitive space, with brands like Google, Samsung, and Apple vying for consumer attention. However, one brand that often flies under the radar is Motorola. Known for its iconic Razr flip phones, Motorola has been making a name for itself in the non-folding smartphone arena as well.

The latest offering from Motorola, the Edge 60 Pro, is a device that aims to compete with the best mid-range phones on the market. With a sleek design and impressive features, the Edge 60 Pro has the potential to be a strong contender in its price range. However, there is one major concern that could impact its overall appeal.

Design-wise, the Edge 60 Pro doesn’t disappoint. Available in three striking finishes – Shadow, Dazzling Blue, and Sparkling Grape – the phone exudes style and sophistication. The use of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and military-grade durability make it a sturdy and reliable device, while the IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance ensure it can withstand the elements.

The 6.7-inch pOLED display on the Edge 60 Pro is a joy to use, offering vibrant colors and crisp visuals. With a 120Hz refresh rate, the screen delivers smooth and seamless performance, making it a pleasure to use for everyday tasks.

Under the hood, the Edge 60 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Extreme chipset, a departure from the Qualcomm chips found in many smartphones. Despite this change, the phone delivers impressive performance, handling apps and multitasking with ease. While it may not be suited for intensive gaming, the Edge 60 Pro is more than capable for everyday use.

Motorola’s light-touch approach to software shines through on the Edge 60 Pro, with a clean and streamlined Android 15 experience. The addition of AI features like Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, and Remember This, along with the AI Key for easy access, adds a layer of convenience to the user experience.

One standout feature of the Edge 60 Pro is its massive 6000mAh battery, a significant upgrade from its predecessor. While the charging speeds have been slightly scaled back, the phone promises impressive battery life, with the ability to get a full day’s usage from just six minutes of charging.

When it comes to the cameras, the Edge 60 Pro boasts a 50Mp main sensor and a 50Mp ultrawide lens. While the camera setup sounds impressive on paper, the real-world performance remains to be seen. Motorola’s software processing may not match up to the competition, particularly in low-light situations.

Priced at €599.99 in Europe, the Edge 60 Pro offers good value for money, with a combination of premium features and sleek design. However, the camera performance could be a deciding factor for potential buyers in the competitive mid-range market.

In conclusion, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro is a strong contender in the mid-range smartphone segment, with a stylish design, impressive display, and solid performance. While there are some concerns, particularly around the camera quality, the Edge 60 Pro has the potential to stand out among its competitors.
