Motorola’s iconic Razr phone made a comeback in recent years with a modern twist, featuring a foldable design with a folding internal screen and a secondary cover display. In 2023, Motorola released two versions for the first time – the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra. Now, in 2024, the company has unveiled the successors to these models – the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra.
The Motorola Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra were officially announced on 25th June 2024 and are now available for purchase in the UK. The release dates for the US market have not been disclosed yet. Additionally, there are rumors of a new addition to the Razr lineup, the Razr 50s, which may offer an affordable variant of the Razr 50 with potentially downgraded features.
In terms of pricing, the regular Razr 50 starts at £799, while the Razr 50 Ultra is priced at £999 in the UK. Both models are available on contract from various carriers. The Razr 50 Ultra boasts several upgrades compared to its predecessor, including a larger cover display, improved cameras, a more powerful chipset, and enhanced battery life.
The Razr 50 Ultra features a 4-inch cover display with direct integration with the Google Gemini AI app, upgraded cameras with AI features, a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, and official water resistance with an IPX8 rating. On the other hand, the Razr 50 offers a smaller 3.6-inch cover screen, a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chipset, and a 4200mAh battery.
Both models come in vibrant colors and offer unique features tailored to different user preferences. With these upgrades, the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra aim to compete with other foldable phones in the market. Only time will tell if they can stand out as top contenders in the foldable phone category.
