Motorola has recently made waves in the tech world with the launch of two new smartphones, the Motorola Signature and the Motorola Razr Fold. While the Signature is already available, details about the Razr Fold have been kept under wraps until now.
Having had the opportunity to review the Motorola Signature, a device that aims to redefine luxury in the smartphone market, I was excited to get my hands on the new Motorola Razr Fold at MWC 2026. This new device is part of a growing trend of foldable smartphones that are challenging the dominance of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 in the market.
Motorola’s foray into folding phones began with the revival of the Razr in 2020, paying homage to the iconic Razr V3 from 2004. With Apple set to launch its own folding phone in 2026 and other competitors like Honor unveiling the Magic V6 at MWC 2026, the landscape of foldable phones is becoming more competitive than ever.
The Motorola Razr Fold boasts impressive specifications, including a book-style folding design with a 6.6-inch external display and an 8.1-inch internal display. The external display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 for added durability, while the folding display features ultra-thin glass.
Both displays are LTPO pOLED panels, with the main display offering a resolution of 2848 x 2232 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The external display has a resolution of 2520 x 1080 and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz, making for a smooth viewing experience. Additionally, both displays are incredibly bright, with peak brightness levels of 6200 nits on the folding screen and 6000 nits on the external display.
Under the hood, the Motorola Razr Fold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, the same hardware found in Motorola’s flagship 2026 phone, the Signature. The phone also boasts a generous 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, making it a compelling option for power users.
One of the standout features of the Razr Fold is its camera setup, which includes a 50MP Sony Lytia 828 main camera capable of capturing 8K video, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Motorola claims that the Razr Fold has received a DXOMark Gold rating, positioning it as the best camera on a folding phone.
In terms of design, the Motorola Razr Fold stays true to the brand’s aesthetic, with a familiar look that aligns with other Motorola devices from recent years. The device is slightly thicker when folded compared to its rivals, but it offers a solid build quality and a titanium plate behind the fold to maintain the screen’s shape.
The Razr Fold also supports Motorola’s Pen Ultra and comes with 7 years of software updates, ensuring longevity and compatibility with future technologies. The device will be available for pre-order in the UK on April 13th, with a price tag of £1,799.99 or €1,999.99 in Europe.
