Leah Litman, a legal scholar at the University of Michigan and a commentator for the decidedly left-leaning MSNBC, faced quite the tumultuous day today.

In light of the Supreme Court’s recent decision to curtail the issuance of nationwide injunctions by lower courts, Litman referenced the impassioned dissents from Justices Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

The implications of this ruling seem to have sent shockwaves through the liberal camp, signaling a significant victory for the Trump administration—sparking an evident state of alarm among its members.

NewsBusters reported:

Following the Supreme Court’s final rulings of the term on Friday, MSNBC’s Ana Cabrera hosted a legal panel where the atmosphere was thick with anxiety over the court’s decision to restrict regional courts from issuing nationwide injunctions. Cabrera herself stated: “This sounds like a giant win for the Trump administration and could likely trigger chaos now across the country.”

Litman, visibly shaken by the court’s ruling (as seen in the image above, sporting a green jacket), took a brief pause from her evident distress to amplify the fervent dissent from the liberal justices:

“I must highlight the vigorous dissents from the Democratic appointees in this case. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson described the decision as ‘an existential threat to the rule of law.’ Meanwhile, Justice Sotomayor cautioned that ‘no right is safe in the new legal regime the court creates.’ She denounced the court as ‘complicit in a grave attack on our system of law.’

“The reality is that the Supreme Court’s Republican justices have stripped away a vital instrument from lower courts—the most significant tool for holding the Trump administration accountable to the law,” Litman lamented.

This situation reveals a stark realization among the liberal faction: they had banked on the hope that independent judges would navigate them through the impending political landscape for the next three and a half years. That contingency plan appears to have crumbled, and they are acutely aware of it.
