The upcoming Hulu series centered around the infamous Murdaugh family has recently announced the addition of three new cast members. According to Variety, Noah Emmerich, Kathleen Wilhoite, and Tommy Dewey have joined the ensemble for the untitled project.
The star-studded cast already includes names like Jason Clarke, Patricia Arquette, J. Smith-Cameron, Johnny Berchtold, Will Harrison, and Brittany Snow. The series is based on the real-life story of Maggie and Alex Murdaugh, as well as the investigative work of journalist Mandy Matney, the creator of the popular “Murdaugh Murders” podcast. Clarke is set to portray Alex, while Arquette will take on the role of Maggie. Snow will bring Matney to life on screen.
The Murdaugh family, known for their influence in the South Carolina Lowcountry, has been embroiled in a series of scandals and criminal accusations for years. From fraud to murder, their name has been linked to a variety of crimes, making them a subject of fascination for true crime enthusiasts and journalists alike.
Emmerich will play Randy Murdaugh, the older brother of Alex. Described as straight-laced and conservative, Randy is constantly at odds with his younger brother’s reckless behavior. Wilhoite will portray Gloria Satterfield, the Murdaughs’ devoted housekeeper who has been a part of their lives for decades. Dewey’s character, Mark Tinsley, is a charismatic prosecutor and a close friend of Alex’s, representing the parents of a victim in a tragic boat accident.
The series is helmed by co-creators and executive producers Michael D. Fuller and Erin Lee Carr, with Fuller taking on the role of showrunner. Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund will also executive produce under their Eat the Cat banner, alongside Mandy Matney. The project is produced by UCP, with Antosca and Eat the Cat currently under an overall deal with the studio.
