The recently unsealed autopsy reports shed light on the brutal nature of the murders committed by Kohberger on the night of November 13, 2022. The victims, Mogen and Goncalves, were found in Mogen’s bedroom, where they met their tragic end.
Mogen, who bore the brunt of Kohberger’s rage, was subjected to a horrifying attack. The autopsy revealed that she had been stabbed a total of 28 times, with 13 of those stab wounds concentrated on her scalp, face, and neck. Additionally, she sustained five stab wounds to the chest and 10 incised wounds on her upper extremities. The extent of her injuries included damage to her lung and liver, as well as perforations of the subclavian vein, artery, and blood vessels of the chest wall. Furthermore, there was an incision of the nasal septum, highlighting the brutality of the attack.
Goncalves, the second victim, also suffered a gruesome fate at the hands of Kohberger. The autopsy revealed that she had at least 24 stab and incised wounds on her scalp, face, and neck, along with 11 stab and incised wounds on her chest and three on her upper extremities. In addition to these injuries, there were punctures on the outer table of her skull, scalp lacerations, and bleeding around her brain. Her eyes and face showed extensive bruising, and she had a broken nose, indicating the ferocity of the assault.
