In a social media post on X, Musk expressed his gratitude to President Donald Trump as his time as a special government employee with the Department of Government Efficiency comes to an end. Musk’s 130-day mandate was set to expire around May 30, but the administration has assured that efforts to restructure and streamline the federal government will continue.
Musk emphasized that the mission of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will only grow stronger over time and become ingrained in government operations. Under the leadership of Trump and DOGE, significant reductions in the federal civilian workforce have already been achieved through various measures.
However, Musk criticized the recent tax and budget legislation proposed by Republicans, citing concerns about increased budget deficits that undermine the work of the DOGE team. Despite facing protests and calls from investors to focus more on managing Tesla, Musk, as the world’s wealthiest individual, has defended his role as an advisor to Trump in dismantling parts of the US government.
