Ukrainians Weary of War, Gallup Survey Shows

After more than two years of conflict, Ukrainians are expressing increasing fatigue with the ongoing war with Russia. According to Gallup’s most recent surveys conducted in August and October 2024, an average of 52% of Ukrainians are in favor of negotiating an end to the war as soon as possible. In contrast, nearly four in 10 Ukrainians (38%) believe that their country should continue fighting until achieving victory.

This shift in attitudes among Ukrainians marks a significant departure from their stance in the aftermath of the war’s initiation in late February 2022. Initially, 73% of Ukrainians were resolute in their preference for continuing the fight until achieving victory.
