Nanushka’s Pre-Spring 2026 Collection Inspired by Rudolf Steiner
This season, designer Sandra Sándor of Nanushka found inspiration in the work of Rudolf Steiner, the Austrian architect and esotericist known for his occultism and self-proclaimed clairvoyance. Sándor was drawn to the organic shapes and modular pieces found in Steiner’s London home, which influenced the brand’s latest offering.
The collection features versatile pieces that can be transformed to suit different styles and occasions. A khaki trench coat can be worn as a bolero or a vest, while a tank dress comes with billowing sleeves and a high-neck collar that can be removed. Even a pair of jeans features a unique “collar” waistband that can be adjusted with buttons.
Steiner’s influence is also evident in the season’s color palette, which leans towards neutrals with pops of stem green, petal pink, and tomato red. Sándor explains, “He saw colors as living beings, floating in space and not attached to physical surfaces.” This concept is reflected in the dip-dye motif seen on a long-sleeve maxi dress and a button-through skirt, giving them a sense of movement and fluidity.
However, it’s not just the aesthetic that drew Sándor to Steiner’s work. She was particularly inspired by his belief that “Matter is never without Spirit. Spirit is never without Matter.” This philosophy resonated with her approach to design, as she strives to imbue her collections with deeper meaning and themes rather than simply following trends.
“When I design my collections, I really try to also have that mindset,” Sándor explains. “I just love to have this deeper meaning when I design. I look at themes—not just an era—because that gives me the drive with every season.”
