Natasha Zinko’s quest for the perfect backdrop for her pre-fall lookbook led her on a journey to find an aesthetics clinic that would capture the essence of her collection. However, after visiting several clinics that felt too clinical, she and her stylist Betsy Johnson decided to transform a London photo studio into a makeshift ward. This setting was inspired by the idea of a place where the cast of her spring 2025 presentation, who she imagined as being unapologetically invested in cosmetic procedures, would feel right at home.

In a world where cosmetic procedures have become increasingly mainstream, Zinko’s collection delved into the fascination with before-and-after transformations and the sometimes controversial aspects of these procedures. Garments in the collection were deconstructed and reassembled with twisted seams, crooked zippers, and unconventional details. Blazers were worn backwards, denim dresses resembled layered jeans, and polos were stitched together to create a singular piece. The collection featured upcycled pieces from previous collections and leftover samples, adding a touch of resourcefulness to the mix.

The inclusion of cutesy bag charms in the collection brought to mind a scene from the film “The Substance,” where a character uses a crystal earring to distract from her appearance. It is unclear whether Zinko’s collection critiques or celebrates cosmetic interventions, but the ambiguity adds to the intrigue of the designs. The designer’s team even expressed interest in discovering new doctors, hinting at a continued exploration of the world of cosmetic enhancements.

Overall, Natasha Zinko’s pre-fall collection blurs the lines between fashion, beauty, and self-expression. By incorporating elements of cosmetic procedures and unconventional design details, the collection challenges traditional notions of beauty and invites viewers to question the role of aesthetics in our society.
