By the President of the United States of America
A Proclamation
Since the founding of our great nation, farmers and agricultural workers have been the backbone of American prosperity, bravely facing nature’s challenges to cultivate our land and feed our people. Farming is woven into the very fabric of our identity, serving not only as a cornerstone of our economy but also as a vital element of our cultural heritage. On this National Agriculture Day, we honor every farmer and rancher whose relentless spirit strengthens our country, reaffirming our commitment to empower them for a flourishing and sustainable agricultural future.
Every single day, farmers and agricultural workers ensure that families across America—and indeed the globe—can enjoy stable access to essential products, from the food on our tables to the clothes we wear and the fuel that powers our vehicles. Remarkably, over 95 percent of farms in the United States are family-owned, playing a crucial role in maintaining rural stability and contributing to an impressive 83 percent of total agricultural output.
To honor my promise of bolstering American farmers and making our agricultural products more accessible, I have diligently worked to mitigate the spread of bird flu, an issue inherited from my predecessor. This includes enhancing biosecurity measures and ensuring swift containment of outbreaks. As your President, I am committed to keeping American agriculture at the pinnacle of global standards, producing unmatched food, feed, fuel, and fiber. My administration will strive to enhance our farmers’ competitiveness through the promotion of fair trade practices, streamlining export processes, and expanding market opportunities.
For centuries, American farmers and ranchers have been the lifeblood of our economy. Today, and every day, we express our profound gratitude to the hardworking men and women in agricultural communities who exemplify the timeless virtues of diligence and self-sufficiency. As we embark on a new chapter of American prosperity, we pledge to support the heroes of our agricultural sector, whose unwavering pride and commitment nourish our nation, sustain our families, and fuel our way of life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 18, 2025, as National Agriculture Day. I encourage all Americans to observe this day by recognizing the vital role agriculture plays in our daily lives, acknowledging its continuing significance to rural America and our nation’s economy, and expressing our heartfelt appreciation to farmers, growers, ranchers, producers, stewards of our national forests, and all those who labor in the agriculture sector across our great nation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this eighteenth day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
DONALD J. TRUMP
