BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION
On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 10, 2025, a horrendous act occurred as the esteemed Charlie Kirk was assassinated in broad daylight within a campus courtyard, igniting a nationwide wave of righteous outrage. Today, we pay tribute to the eternal legacy of Charlie—a devoted father, a loving husband, a Christian hero, and a stalwart advocate of the American conservative movement. We celebrate his life, extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved family, and commit to upholding the values for which he sacrificed everything.
Throughout his life, Charlie dedicated himself to fundamental principles: defending truth, fostering dialogue, and sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ. He was unparalleled in his grace and eloquence, always open to differing viewpoints, and unwavering in his noble pursuit to unite our political, cultural, and philosophical differences.
As we grieve this profound loss, my Administration will relentlessly strive to combat the troubling rise in political violence. No civilized society can tolerate an atmosphere where open discussions are met with hostility, where the search for truth is met with brutality, and where patriotism is greeted with contempt. In the wake of Charlie’s passing, we are tasked with continuing his mission to uplift our cherished American values with courage and clarity. Like him, we must confront the darkness and enmity head-on, and we must steadfastly proclaim the truth with joy and determination.
Today, on what would have marked his 32nd birthday, our Nation honors the cherished memory of Charlie Kirk. We extend our deepest sympathies to his loving wife, Erika, and their two dear children. We encourage all Americans to come together in prayer for tranquility in our public discourse. Most importantly, we renew our commitment to perpetually uphold our principles of truth, faith, and the free exchange of ideas.
THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, acting under the authority granted to me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, hereby declare October 14, 2025, as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk. I urge the American populace to gather on this day in their chosen places of worship, to honor Charlie’s legacy. I invite all citizens of our Nation to pray for the promotion of peace, truth, and justice throughout our great country.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fourteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
DONALD J. TRUMP
