BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION
As we embrace National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, we recognize the critical importance of physical fitness and sports in enhancing our well-being, longevity, and life satisfaction. Engaging in sports and maintaining active lifestyles not only bolsters our health but also strengthens the fabric of our communities, paving the way for a more promising future for our nation.
For too long, our country has overlooked the health of its citizens, leading to a troubling situation where the United States falls behind other developed nations in life expectancy, chronic disease prevention, and overall public health metrics. This negligence has exacted a heavy toll, and it is a reality we can no longer ignore.
Upon taking office, I endeavored to change this narrative. I appointed Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services, tasking him with the urgent mission to address this public health crisis head-on. Additionally, I established the Make America Healthy Again Commission, dedicated to ensuring that all Americans have access to nutritious food and addressing the underlying causes of chronic diseases in children. With a commitment to public health at the heart of my administration, we are striving to cultivate a healthier, more resilient America.
Encouraging youth engagement in sports is pivotal in fostering a culture centered around health and physical fitness. My administration is dedicated to ensuring that our sports arenas and competitive environments remain safe, inclusive, and accessible for future generations. During my first term, I signed an Executive Order aimed at expanding children’s participation in sports, promoting not only physical activity but also the social and academic benefits that accompany a healthy lifestyle. I also recently signed an Executive Order reinforcing the integrity of women’s sports by ensuring a fair competition environment for female athletes.
Together, we are constructing a healthier and more vibrant nation, one that champions fitness and well-being, empowering every citizen to realize their full potential across all facets of life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim May 2025 as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. I urge the people of the United States to integrate physical fitness and sports participation into their daily routines.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-fourth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
DONALD J. TRUMP
