Andy Cohen to Star in Nerds Super Bowl Ad
After co-hosting New Year’s Eve on CNN, Andy Cohen is set to make an even bigger splash on television screens during Super Bowl LX. The popular “Watch What Happens Live” host will be featured in a commercial for Nerds candy, a product of the Ferrero Group that has been gaining traction in recent years with its Nerds Gummy Clusters. This will mark Nerds’ third consecutive appearance in the Super Bowl, with the ad set to air on February 8 during the game telecast on NBC.
Cohen expressed his excitement about being part of such a significant cultural moment, stating, “Being a part of a cultural moment is a very big deal to me and something that is not lost on me.” While he remained tight-lipped about the details of the commercial, he teased, “You just have to wait for the ad to see how juicy it all gets.”
The Nerds ad is scheduled to air during the second quarter of the Super Bowl, with NBC reportedly seeking between $7 million to $10 million for a 30-second spot. Unlike previous years where celebrities like Addison Rae and Shaboozey were featured, Cohen brings a different appeal to the brand with his media presence and connections in the industry.
Greg Guidotti, Chief Marketing Officer of Ferrara Candy Company, praised Cohen’s ability to generate excitement and drive attention to the campaign. The company aims to attract new consumers to the Nerds brand, as research indicates that once people try the candy, they are likely to become repeat customers.
With the Super Bowl being a key platform to reach a wide audience, Nerds is focused on showcasing the candy and ensuring it stands out amidst the competition. Guidotti emphasized the importance of making the product the star of the show, rather than relying on flashy gimmicks or celebrity endorsements that may overshadow the brand.
Cohen echoed this sentiment, highlighting the collaboration with animated characters in the ad as a new and exciting experience for him. As the Super Bowl remains one of the last remaining destination TV events, Nerds is banking on the game’s massive viewership to introduce more households to their unique candy offerings.
