Netflix recently announced the order of two new series during its upfronts presentation. The first series, “All the Sinners Bleed,” is a nine-episode TV adaptation of S.A. Cosby’s thriller novel. The story follows the first Black Sheriff in a small Bible Belt County as he investigates a serial killer who has been targeting Black communities in Southern Virginia in the name of God. The show will be helmed by “Black Panther” co-writer Joe Robert Cole as showrunner and director of multiple episodes, with executive producers including Cosby, Amblin Entertainment, and Higher Ground.

The second series, “The Body,” is a coming-of-age drama created by Quinn Shephard. The plot revolves around a group of Catholic school girls who experience prophetic visions after a dance-team initiation gone wrong, leading to mass hysteria in their town. Shephard will serve as the creator, showrunner, and director of the premiere and additional episodes, with executive producers including Amy Israel, Peter Chernin, and Josh Stern for North Road, as well as Riley Keough, Gina Gammell, and Sacha Ben Harroche for Felix Culpa.

Netflix has a history of successful collaborations with production companies such as Amblin Entertainment, Higher Ground, Chernin Entertainment, and Felix Culpa on various projects like docuseries, sports documentaries, thrillers, and adaptations. The streaming platform continues to expand its original content offerings with diverse and compelling storytelling across different genres.

Fans of thrillers, dramas, and coming-of-age stories can look forward to these new series from Netflix, which promise to deliver engaging narratives and memorable characters. Stay tuned for more updates on “All the Sinners Bleed” and “The Body” as production progresses and release dates are announced.
