Netflix is celebrating its 15th anniversary in Brazil with exciting news for its viewers. The streaming giant announced that it will exclusively stream the Oscar-nominated film “The Secret Agent” in the country. This announcement coincides with the opening of a brand new, state-of-the-art office in São Paulo, underscoring Netflix’s strong commitment to the Brazilian market where it first launched its original series “3%” in 2016.

Greg Peters, co-CEO of Netflix, emphasized the importance of the new office in São Paulo as a strategic move to further support the local creative community. “The opening of our new São Paulo office is a natural next step in the journey our local team has built over the past 15 years alongside Brazil’s creative community,” Peters stated. He also highlighted Netflix’s dedication to supporting Brazilian films and producers by partnering with “The Secret Agent” producers to fund and pre-license the film for its Brazilian audience.

“The Secret Agent,” which received four Academy Award nominations including Best Film, Best International Film, Best Actor for Wagner Moura, and Best Casting, has already garnered critical acclaim. Wagner Moura made history by becoming the first Brazilian actor to win a Best Actor Golden Globe.

The new Netflix office in São Paulo, located in the Pinheiros district, is designed to accommodate nearly 300 employees and is the first office in the region exclusively occupied by the company. The construction and adaptation of the building created over 2,000 jobs and injected $25 million (R$141 million) into São Paulo’s local economy.

Netflix’s presence in Brazil has continued to grow, with a 20% increase in its workforce last year. The streaming platform reported a 60% increase in global viewership of its Brazilian titles between July and December 2025 compared to the previous six months. Over the past three years, Netflix has collaborated with over 40 Brazilian production companies, generating 12,000 jobs through the release of films and series in 2025.

Elisabetta Zenatti, VP of Content for Netflix Brazil, emphasized the importance of telling Brazilian stories that resonate globally. Netflix is set to launch several Brazilian productions this year, including “Radioactive Emergency,” “Brasil 70,” and “Sintonia: The Movie.” Additionally, the company has announced a diverse slate of new productions, such as “The Pilgrimage,” a reality show hosted by Claudia Raia, and a melodrama directed by Mauro Mendonça Filho.

Recent partnerships with Brazilian indie filmmakers include projects like “Vicentina Pede Desculpas,” “The Son of a Thousand Men,” “A Woman With No Filter,” and “Zero to Hero.” These collaborations demonstrate Netflix’s commitment to supporting local talent and storytelling.

With its continued investment in the Brazilian market and a growing slate of original content, Netflix is poised to further solidify its position as a leading streaming platform in the region. The company’s dedication to telling diverse and compelling stories resonates with audiences both in Brazil and around the world.
