The entertainment world was shocked by the tragic news of Julián Ortega’s passing on August 25. The Spanish actor, known for his role in Netflix’s popular series “Elite,” suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while visiting Zahora Beach in Barbate, Spain. He was only 41 years old.

Initial reports suggested that Ortega had drowned, but authorities later clarified that he had experienced a cardiac arrest on the shore. Despite efforts by paramedics to revive him, Ortega was pronounced dead at the scene.

In “Elite,” Ortega portrayed the manager of “La Cabana” restaurant in the show’s first season. The series, which ran from 2018 to 2024, followed a group of working-class teens navigating life at a prestigious private high school. Ortega’s performance was praised by fans and critics alike.

Two days after his untimely death, Ortega’s co-star Paco Collado paid tribute to him on Twitter, expressing his sorrow at the loss of a talented actor. Collado fondly remembered Ortega’s professionalism and warmth on the set of their show “The Countryside.”

Apart from his role in “Elite,” Ortega also appeared in other projects such as “4 estrellas,” “Untameable,” “Sentimos las molestias,” and “Mylove Lost.” His versatility and dedication to his craft endeared him to audiences around the world.
