Lane Kiffin, the head coach of the LSU Tigers, is showing his support for the Ole Miss Rebels as they aim for the 2025 national championship. Kiffin recently reacted to the hiring of John David Baker as offensive coordinator for his former team with a two-word response on social media.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kiffin exclaimed, “Great hire!!!!! 🔥” This comment was in response to a report by Pete Thamel confirming that East Carolina offensive coordinator John David Baker is set to join Ole Miss in the same role.

John David Baker is a familiar face at Ole Miss, having previously served as the team’s tight ends coach and passing game coordinator before being promoted to co-Offensive Coordinator in 2022. After a stint as offensive coordinator at East Carolina, Baker is now returning to the Rebels to work under Pete Golding as the offensive coordinator.

In a show of solidarity, Lane Kiffin has allowed four current LSU offensive assistants to assist Ole Miss in their preparations for the College Football Playoffs. These coaches, including George McDonald, Joe Cox, Dane Stevens, and Sawyer Jordan, were part of Kiffin’s staff at Ole Miss before joining him at LSU. Kiffin’s gesture demonstrates his commitment to helping his old team succeed in the playoffs despite his new coaching responsibilities.

The Ole Miss Rebels are set to face the Tulane Green Wave in the first round of the Playoffs on December 20, 2025, at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi. Fans can catch the action on FuboTV, DAZN, TNT, and TruTV.

As Lane Kiffin continues to finalize his coaching staff for the upcoming college football season, his support for Ole Miss remains unwavering. By lending a helping hand to his former team, Kiffin is showcasing his dedication to their success on the road to the national championship.
