Joe Biden Faces Backlash from Families of Fallen Service Members
President Joe Biden recently faced criticism from the families of the fallen US service members who were killed in a suicide bombing at Kabul Airport. The ceremony took place during their dignified transfer at Dover airbase.
One of the incidents that sparked outrage was when Biden was seen checking his watch before the bodies of the fallen service members were brought out, causing further distress to the grieving families.
It was revealed that due to Biden’s incompetence, 13 US service members lost their lives in the Kabul blast, carried out by a terrorist who had been released from Bagram prison just weeks earlier.
Furthermore, Biden opted not to have any media present during his meeting with the gold star families, adding to the controversy surrounding his actions.
Meeting with Grieving Families
During the ceremony, Biden met with the pregnant widow of one of the fallen Marines, Rylee McCollum, whose tragic story has deeply touched the nation. McCollum, a 20-year-old Marine from Wyoming, was killed in the Kabul blast only three weeks into his first deployment, leaving behind his pregnant wife.
Rylee McCollum’s mother expressed her anger towards Biden, holding him responsible for her son’s death. She accused Biden of napping for three hours before meeting with the families, adding to the families’ distress and disillusionment with the President’s actions.
The families of the fallen service members have spoken out against Biden, highlighting the delays and lack of empathy they experienced during the ceremony at Dover airbase.
Families Speak Out
According to a report by The Daily Mail, Roice McCollum, the sister of Rylee McCollum, criticized Biden for making them wait for an additional three hours to receive the bodies of their loved ones, citing Biden’s alleged nap on his plane as the reason for the delay.
Other families, such as the mother-in-law of Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee and the father of Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, also expressed their frustration at being left waiting on the tarmac for Biden’s arrival, describing the President in unflattering terms.
The families of the fallen service members continue to demand accountability and transparency from the Biden administration regarding the events leading up to the tragic Kabul blast and the subsequent handling of the dignified transfer ceremony.
