New Yorkers gathered in Washington Square Park to participate in a controversial shooter look-alike contest, mocking the recent assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The event, which drew a crowd of onlookers, featured eight contestants dressed in hooded outerwear and face masks, with cheers from the audience determining the winner of the tasteless competition.

The victorious contestant, who bore a striking resemblance to the gunman, mentioned that he didn’t have to make any special effort for the event as his attire was part of his regular wardrobe. He received a prize of $50 for his killer looks.

Despite the insensitive nature of the contest, the participants expressed their frustrations with the current state of the world, with one contestant displaying a sign with the words “Deny Defend Depose,” similar to the message left by the actual gunman at the scene of the crime.

The article also highlighted the ongoing manhunt for the assassin, who remains at large as of Saturday evening. Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that the police have identified the shooter, indicating that the authorities are closing in on the perpetrator.
