Channel 4’s BAFTA-winning female-led drama anthology series, “I Am,” has been renewed for a fourth season. The upcoming two-part installment, titled “I Am Helen,” will be led by Nicola Coughlan, known for her roles in “Derry Girls” and “Bridgerton,” alongside Joe Cole.

“I Am” has been a collaborative effort between creator and filmmaker Dominic Savage and Me+You Productions since its debut in 2019. The series explores the personal experiences of women through emotionally raw storytelling, with each season featuring a different lead actress. Previous seasons have starred Kate Winslet, Letitia Wright, Lesley Manville, and Samantha Morton.

Nicola Coughlan expressed her excitement about joining the “I Am” series, praising Dominic Savage as a talented storyteller dedicated to portraying the female experience authentically. The producers, Krishnendu Majumdar and Richard Yee, also shared their enthusiasm for working with Coughlan and Savage on this new installment.

“I Am Helen” follows the success of previous seasons, including “I Am Ruth,” led by Kate Winslet, which won two BAFTAs in 2023. The series has been well-received by audiences and critics alike, making it Channel 4’s most successful new 10pm drama in six years.

Gemma Boswell, commissioning editor for Channel 4 Drama, expressed her excitement about welcoming back Dominic Savage and Nicola Coughlan for “I Am Helen.” She described the “I Am” series as a powerful and timely portrait of our times, highlighting the impact of the storytelling.

“I Am” is produced by Me+You Productions, with Majumdar and Savage as producers and Richard Yee as executive producer. Gemma Boswell oversees the series as the commissioning editor for Channel 4 drama. The show is co-funded by Sky Studios and distributed internationally by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
