Netflix’s limited series “Adolescence” has quickly become a fan favorite, reaching the top of the Nielsen charts in its first full week of availability. The show garnered an impressive 1.44 billion minutes of viewing during the week of March 17 to March 23, a 59% increase from its debut week where it ranked at No. 9. Notably, the series resonated particularly well with adults aged 35-64 and Hispanic viewers, with a 56% and 26% overindexing respectively.
On the film front, “Wicked” made a splash on Peacock, earning a spot on Nielsen’s top 10 streaming programs list for the week ending March 23. Despite only being available for three days that week, “Wicked” managed to accumulate 905 million minutes of viewing. The film attracted viewers of all ages, with both kids aged 2-11 and adults aged 18-49 tuning in.
“Moana 2” continued its dominance as the top movie of the week, raking in 1.13 billion minutes of viewing. Following closely behind was Netflix’s “The Residence” at No. 2 with 1.36 billion minutes, drawing in a significant Black viewership. Prime Video’s “Reacher” secured the No. 4 spot with over a billion minutes viewed for the fifth consecutive week.
Apple TV+’s “Severance” reached a new weekly high with 876 million minutes, marking its first appearance in the overall top 10. The show attracted a majority of adult 18-49 viewers, showcasing its broad appeal. Additionally, HBO Max’s “The White Lotus” hit a series high of 973 million minutes, while “The Pitt” made its debut in the originals top 10 with 466 million minutes viewed.
The overall top 10 streaming rankings for the week also featured popular library shows like “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Bluey,” and “Family Guy.” With a diverse range of content capturing the attention of viewers, streaming platforms continue to deliver compelling and engaging entertainment options for audiences of all ages and demographics.
