An unfortunate incident unfolded in the Bronx where a group of individuals allegedly engaged in sex trafficking, rape, and physical abuse of a 16-year-old girl. The victim was lured into this harrowing ordeal through an online dating app but eventually managed to turn the tables on her abusers with the help of law enforcement.
The brave teenager provided testimony against her perpetrators, leading to the indictment of 10 individuals on felony charges. The ring operated from December 2022 to March 2024, during which the young girl was subjected to violence and exploitation, being sold for sex across locations like New York City and Atlantic City as stated by Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark in a press release.
Clark emphasized the traumatic experience the victim endured, starting from her initial contact on a dating app. The indictment comprises 79 counts, shedding light on the horrific crimes committed against the teenager, who displayed immense courage during the proceedings.
The series of events began when the victim allegedly encountered Tesean Green, 49, on the dating platform “Tagged.” Soon after, Green and his associates started exploiting the girl, manipulating online platforms to attract clients, administering drugs, and profiting from her exploitation.
Aside from being forced into prostitution, the teenager was coerced into selling drugs to her abusers. The group monitored her movements closely and resorted to violence to maintain control, resulting in severe injuries like a fractured jaw from physical assaults.
In October 2023, Jamel Cameron and Brianna Jamison from Queens were implicated in holding the victim captive at a Bronx motel for arranged encounters facilitated through MegaPersonals.com. The remaining suspects were involved in sexually assaulting the teenager.
Charges against the 10 individuals include sex trafficking a minor, promoting prostitution, rape, using a child in a sexual performance, and endangering the welfare of a child.
While Tesean Green is currently detained in New Jersey awaiting arraignment in the Bronx, Cameron and Jamison have been subjected to bail amounts of $150,000 and $10,000 respectively.
Joshua Green, Tesean’s uncle, is also in custody with a bail set at $100,000. The other six defendants were charged and released without bail.
Clark reiterated the availability of support for trafficking victims, emphasizing the importance of seeking help and protection from such heinous crimes.
