Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder have chosen to embrace a simpler life outside of Los Angeles, moving their family to a farm. In a recent interview on The Julia Cunningham Show on SiriusXM, Somerhalder talked about their decision to step away from their acting careers to focus on their new lifestyle. The couple, who have been married since 2015, have two children together, Bodhi, 7, and a 1-year-old son.

Reed explained that she sees this transition as a way to marry business with passion and truly live out their values. With their company, The Absorption Company, they are finding a balance between their work and their life on the farm. Somerhalder mentioned that he had taken numerous flights in the past year, while Reed emphasized the importance of being grounded to manage their farm effectively.

Despite distancing themselves from Hollywood in terms of location, Reed and Somerhalder are grateful for the platform their entertainment careers have given them. Reed expressed that she uses her platform to amplify important messages and support her business endeavors. Somerhalder also acknowledged the role of the entertainment industry in providing them with opportunities to make a positive impact.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Reed shared insights into their daily routine on the farm, starting at 5 a.m. and ending late at night. They cultivate over 40 different types of fruits and vegetables on their land, making their farm a full-time commitment. In a previous interview, Somerhalder confirmed that he had retired from acting, while Reed clarified that she did not want to be associated with his definitive statements about leaving Hollywood. She emphasized that while acting is not her primary focus at the moment, she remains open to future opportunities.
