Knife-Wielding Customer Attacks Bakery Owners Over Wrong Sandwich Order
Two New Jersey bakery owners had a terrifying experience when an angry customer attacked them with a knife, claiming they had served him the wrong sandwich four years ago.
Abed Assad and Mohammad, the owners of Baladna Bakery in Paterson, found themselves in a dangerous situation when the irate customer confronted them at the shop, alleging that he had received an eggplant sandwich instead of the egg sandwich he had ordered years ago.
The argument quickly escalated, leading to a violent altercation. The suspect reportedly stabbed Mohammad in the chest and slashed Abed in the arm when he tried to intervene. The assailant then fled the scene, leaving the bakery owners injured and in shock.
Both brothers were promptly taken to Saint Josephâs University Hospital for medical treatment following the attack.
Witnesses were shocked by the incident, with one individual named Samer recalling the chaos outside the bakery. He described seeing one of the owners holding his bleeding arm, a sight that was unsettling given the owners’ reputation for being kind and friendly.
According to Moneer Simrin, a friend of the victims, the attacker claimed to be allergic to eggplant and had a severe reaction after consuming it. Despite attempts to resolve the issue by offering refunds or credits, the situation quickly deteriorated, resulting in the violent outburst.
Paterson Mayor André Sayegh visited the Main Street business district to speak with residents and shopkeepers following the incident. He reassured the community that law enforcement was actively working to apprehend the perpetrator responsible for the violent attack.
As of now, the police have not released any information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts.
