A New Jersey pastor, Charles B. Brinson, has been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a teenager in his home, according to authorities. The 16-year-old victim alleged that Brinson drugged their drink and assaulted them while they were unconscious. The incident reportedly took place more than a year ago and Brinson was arrested at his Trenton home on Feb. 19.
Brinson, who is the Bishop of the Brinson Memorial Church, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault of an incapacitated victim and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The victim stated that Brinson assaulted them on two separate occasions in his home last year. The investigation into the pastor is ongoing, and he has been released following his arrest.
On his Facebook page, Brinson claimed to be a volunteer Trenton Police chaplain. This is not the first time Brinson has faced allegations of sexual misconduct. In September 2008, he was arrested for picking up a 15-year-old boy in Philadelphia and bringing him back to his home in Florence, N.J. However, the charges from that incident were eventually dropped after Brinson accepted a plea deal in 2009 and was sentenced to four years of probation. He was also required to register as a sex offender.
The Brinson Memorial Church was founded by Brinson in 2014. Despite the allegations against him, Brinson has not made any public comments on the matter. The community and authorities are closely monitoring the case as it develops.
